The McLaren F1 is, by almost any measure, the greatest road car ever built. Designed by Gordon Murray and launched in 1992, it featured a central driving position, a naturally aspirated BMW V12 engine producing 627 horsepower, and a carbon fibre monocoque that was revolutionary for its time. In 1998, it set a production car top speed record of 240.1 mph that stood for twelve years. Only 106 were ever made — and every single one is a masterpiece.
